Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact message as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless applicable law or a valid legal requirement compels disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates, times, and visit duration
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed during the visit
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Humboldt County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record data. Its content identifies official routes to the Sheriff's Records Unit, Superior Court, California Department of Justice Bureau of Criminal Information and Analysis, and California Megan's Law Website. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person. California Penal Code § 11105 separately governs access to and dissemination of state criminal-history information; this site is not that state repository.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention schedules, and disclosure rules apply to information entered there. We do not set those practices. Review the selected provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to HCSO, Humboldt Superior Court, California DOJ, legal-aid resources, registry pages, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy terms control. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through their systems and policies.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers receiving a query you choose to submit
- Advertising networks serving content on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures protect collected information. No internet system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's data was submitted, contact us so it can be removed.
